HERB FACTS:
1. Passionflower - 
The herb passionflower (Passiflora incamata) was used as as folk remedy for anxiety and insomnia.  Two studies involving a total of 198 people examined the effectiveness of passionflower for anxiety.  One study found passionflower to be comparable to benxodiazepine drugs.  There was also improvement in job performance and less drowsiness with passionflower compared with the drug mexazolam.

2.  Valerian - 
The herb valerian (Valeriana officinalis) is best known as a herbal remedy for insomnia and also used in patients with mild anxiety. Researchers with the Cochrane Collaboration reviewed studies on valerian for anxiety; a four-week study comparing valerian, the medication diazepam (Valium), and a palcebo in people with generalized anxiety disorder. 85% of them had improved sleep quality with valerian.     

3.  Kava Kava -   
The herb kava kava (Piper methysticum) has been found to have anti-anxiety effects in people. A number of well-designed studies have examined kava’s ability to relieve anxiety compared to anxiety medication or a placebo and the results are promising. In 2003, a review by the Cochrane Collaboration examined the existing research to see how kava kava fared compared to a placebo in treating anxiety. After analyzing the 11 studies (involving a total of 645 people) that met the criteria, the researchers concluded that kava kava to be an effective symptomatic treatment option for anxiety.

4. Lemon Balm -
Lemon balm, has been used as a relaxant since the Middle Ages in European folk medicine.  A 2003 study in the journal of Neuropsychopharmolocology found that lemon balm indirectly encourages sleep by improving mood and inducing mental calmness.  Lemon balm can be called a brain-enhancing supplement, as it can improve cognitive performance too.

1. Lavender -
Many studies have shown, the scent of lavender can help relieve anxiety and stimulate relaxation.  Added lavender essential oil can improve sleep quality and induce relaxation as it slows down the activity of the nervous system.

4. Lime -
Lime essential oil has an invigorating and stimulating effect, helping to alleviate anxiety, depression, and exhaustion.





5. Sandalwood -
Sandalwood essential oil creates an ecstatic yet grounding effect, promoting a sense of comfort and serenity.  Due to its sedative and antidepressant effects, it can help improve sleep, support circulation and calm the nervous system.






6. Vetiver -
